A collaboration between Hotel Dolce, Wise. Energy, and Tapio

Energy is at the heart of every company's activities. It powers
infrastructure, facilitates mobility, and ensures continuity of services. But it
also entails high costs, both financial and environmental. With rising prices, the urgency of decarbonization, and growing supply instability, companies are rethinking how they source and manage their energy.
Increasing energy independence is no longer just a resilience strategy; it is also an economic and environmental opportunity.
What if your company's energy management could both reduce your greenhouse gas emissions and generate new revenue?
This is precisely what the Dolce La Hulpe Hotel has achieved. In partnership with Tapio and Wise. Energy, the hotel has transformed its existing and new energy assets into a flexible and intelligent management system.
The results: an estimated €94,500 in additional revenue and nearly 45 tons of CO2 avoided each year.

In 2024, the Dolce La Hulpe Hotel partnered with Tapio to conduct its first carbon assessment. The hotel already had a solid foundation in terms of energy assets: electric vehicle charging stations, solar panels, and heat pumps installed by the previous owner.
Tapio's mission was to identify ways to reduce emissions and connect the hotel with the right partners to take action. That's where Wise. Energy came in.
Thanks to its expertise, Wise. Energy enabled the hotel to fully leverage its existing and new energy equipment, while paving the way for new sources of revenue through energy flexibility.
As a renowned hotel, Dolce La Hulpe faces the challenge of reducing its environmental footprint while maintaining guest comfort. Following an in-depth energy audit, Wise.
Energy identified two key levers: Energy identified two
major levers:
1.Optimize existing energy assets to increase on-site self-consumption.
2.Participate in the flexibility market to contribute to grid stability, reduce emissions, and generate a new source of revenue.
The flexibility market, set up by Elia (the high-voltage electricity grid operator), allows companies to support grid balance by making some of their energy assets available to the grid. Thus, in times of surplus, these assets can consume more, thereby absorbing the excess energy, and conversely, in times of shortage, the energy produced by a company's energy assets can be fed into the grid.

The first stage of the partnership focused on four main actions:
The hotel's existing energy infrastructure was connected to Wise. Brain, an intelligent real-time management system.
Wise. Energy analyzed past consumption data to identify opportunities for peak shaving and energy optimization.
An additional 40 kWp of power will be installed in collaboration with B-Watt to boost the hotel's renewable energy production.
The Dolce's backup generator has been integrated into the flexibility market, allowing the grid to use it in the event of an imbalance. This generator, powered by biodiesel, is expected to run for only about two hours per year.

The estimates after this initial phase of collaboration are as follows :
Additional income per year
CO2 emissions avoided
Return on investment
Wise. Energy and Dolce La Hulpe are already planning several actions for the next phase of the project:
Overall, these improvements are expected to generate approximately €100,000 in additional revenue per year, while supporting a more stable energy system that is less dependent on fossil fuels.

This project illustrates how an environmental ambition, when supported by the right partners, can generate both climate and financial benefits. Thanks to Wise. Energy's technical expertise and Tapio's carbon management know-how, the Dolce La Hulpe Hotel has not only measured its emissions: it has taken action.
Together, we have transformed a carbon footprint into a roadmap for new revenue, greater resilience, and reduced emissions. Contact us to find out how to transform your carbon and energy management into real value for your business.
